The IDA Concentration

The Institute for Diversity in the Arts’ Identity, Diversity, and Aesthetics subplan is intended for students wishing to develop a deep understanding of the relationship between scholarship, creative practice, and community engagement.

This course of study is well-suited to community-engaged scholars who incorporate artistic and creative methods in their writing and research, and arts-practice scholars whose work is in conversation with contemporary social and political issues. This subplan will prepare students with interdisciplinary approaches to pursuing cultural equity.

Students who complete 15 units in IDA courses have the option of declaring a formal subplan in Identity, Diversity, and Aesthetics.

Subplans are noted on student transcripts and diplomas. Students may apply to IDA’s Creative Honors Thesis program to earn an honors designation.
