  • ART AS COLLECTIVE | IDA Journal Spring 2026

Art as Collective Our Spring 2026 edition of the IDA Journal centers on Art as Collective. Art is never made alone. In our practices, we carry the people, places, histories, and communities that have shaped us, including those we may never have met but whose lives and labor continue to move through our own. We…

  • ART AS MOVEMENT | IDA Journal Winter 2026

Welcome to the first-ever IDA Journal. Born from a desire to bridge the gap between practice and community, this quarterly publication serves as a home for artists and culture workers to share their vision. We begin our journey with the theme “Art as Movement.” Within these pages, students investigate the kinetic power of creativity: its…

  • Screenwriter teaches the art of creative community — Stanford Report

Visiting artist Chinaka Hodge’s winter quarter course explored screenwriting basics through a Bay Area lens. Ask anyone who’s worked with Chinaka Hodge, the poet, screenwriter, and executive producer behind Marvel’s Ironheart television series, and the words you’ll hear on repeat are charismatic, confident, and authentic. But ask Hodge about herself, and she’s more likely to…

  • What’s next for Stanford’s artist incubator

As Stanford’s Institute for Diversity in the Arts celebrates its 25th year, directors A-lan Holt and Adam Banks look toward a future of nurturing student artists and deepening relationships with Bay Area communities. IDA Undergraduate Fellowship

A year-long leadership program for undergraduate students that runs from September to June.

The IDA Undergraduate Fellowship is a year-long program for undergraduate artists and organizers to prepare them with the skills, leadership, and artistic development necessary to sustain a long-term community-based arts practice.

Fellows cultivate confidence in organizing, facilitation, and arts administration while deepening their artistic practice. They support the Artists-in-Residence Program ↗ and serve as ambassadors and student leaders within IDA.
